Orthodontic Education & Background
Dr. David J Dung was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He went on to attend the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979.
He then earned a D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) Degree from University of Missouri – Kansas City in 1983 and followed it with a M.S.D. in Orthodontics from Washington University in St Louis in 1987.
He returned to Honolulu in 1987 to open his private practice with his father Dr. David K. H. Dung who is also an orthodontist. In 1998, Dr. Dung became diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This distinction is held by less than 25% of the orthodontists in the nation.
Dr. Dung maintains offices in Honolulu and Aiea located on the island of Oahu. He also sees patients in Kailua on the island of Oahu, and in Kaunakakai, Molokai.

During his free time, Dr. Dung helps coach his son’s Basketball, Baseball, and Football teams. He is also involved with organizing summer basketball leagues for young teens and enjoys playing golf, ocean activities, traveling and spending time with his family.
Dr. Dung assists with the Friends of Hickam, The Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving dinner in Honolulu and donates orthodontic services to local charities.
